about us

Himalayan Explorers aim is to preserve the natural heritage of the Himalayan region and provide opportunity to local youth. Our treks and retreats provide an opportunity for people to see and feel the beauty of this region of the Himalayas. While we have fixed routes, we are very flexible with dates, number of days and people. We want your experience to be customized to what you want.

The Himalayan Explorers staff is from the local, Dharamshala area. These young Gaddi men are actively involved in local initiatives to bring change and empower their communities. Himalayan Explorers believes in supporting the youth by providing rewarding employment. Having worked together for a few years in the Dharamshala region, it is our aim to collect the capital required to engage in development in the community that will affect quality of life. For example in areas of, water harvesting, zero waste, nutrition, health and education.

As a company, we split our profits. 60% of profit goes to the Guides and 40% goes back into the company.

The area around Dharamshala is just beautiful. It is the home to an indigenous tribe called the Gaddis, has lush green forests, snow filled passes, receives more than its fair share of monsoons and is home to a large selection of flora and fauna. The weather in Dharamsala ensures that only three months are off season. Although, inhabited in most parts, it still is undocumented rather than unexplored. There are over 550 species of birds documented here, two major predators and a plethora of insects and other animal life that abound in the upper regions of the Dhauladhars. From half day nature walks to 15 day expeditions, there is potential for a wide variety of outdoor thrills not easily found in one place.
